Acres for Auction: “Buy an Acre, Save a Farm”

At the Trust’s annual dinner every November, a special highlight of the evening is the live “Acres for Auction.” This year marks the third year for this exciting, interactive event. Each year, a farm on the Trust’s waiting list to be preserved is “auctioned off” to bidders as a fun way to save a farm in just one night.

Here’s how it works: You can preserve an acre of farmland for $500, a half-acre for $250, a quarter acre for $125, or send a donation to be put toward the cost of preserving the special farm.  And, if everything goes as planned, we’ll raise enough money to preserve a beautiful farm on the date of the annual dinner.

If you are unable to join us at the dinner but want to help us preserve this farm in one night, print out and fill in the “absentee bid sheet” below, enclose it with your “bid” and return it to Lancaster Farmland Trust at 125 Strasburg Pike, Strasburg, PA 17579. If you do plan to attend, you can send in an advance “bid” so everyone will know we’re well on the way to our goal of preserving a farm in one night.  All bids received before the dinner will be acknowledged as an auction donation and we will color in your “acre” on the map of the farm we’ll have on display.

This is your chance to be personally involved in preserving a beautiful Lancaster County farm – and to do it all in just one night!  I hope we can count on you to make a “bid” on this farm and help save our home, our harvest, and our heritage.
