Volunteer – Be a Preservation Partner!
At Lancaster Farmland Trust we try to keep operational costs to a minimum so that approximately 93 cents of every dollar contributed goes directly to the cost of preserving farms. Because of this, we depend on members to be active participants in the work we do!
Get involved with the Trust and meet new friends who share your passion for preserving Lancaster County’s landscape and cultural heritage. There is something for everyone, so take a look at the following opportunities and get started!
Do you like parties and special events?
Be part of a team that organizes our major fundraising events like the Trust’s Annual Dinner in November and the Pedal to Preserve bicycle ride in June. Use your party-planning skills to organize our reception, dinner, and silent auction for over 300 of our members. Enjoy the outdoors, meet people, and help run our Pedal to Preserve bike ride fundraiser for 900 people.
Do you like to take your children to fun family places throughout the year?
Represent the Trust at local family attractions like Family Farm Days at Oregon Dairy and the Turkey Hill County Classic.
Do you like to talk?
Tell your friends and neighbors about the Lancaster Farmland Trust and why you are excited about what we are doing! Informational brochures and newsletters are available for your use.
Do you like to meet people?
Join Trust staff and help out at a Trust information booth at agricultural festivals, community events, and seniors’ expositions, etc.
Are you a member of another community service organization like the Lions Club or a Moms’ Group?
Tell your group about the Trust or add the Trust to your list of speakers. PowerPoint presentations available.
Are you a wizard on the computer?
Assist Trust staff with updating our website on a regular basis.
Are you an organizational genius?
Join the staff at the Trust office in Strasburg to help with tasks like large mailing projects, filing, or clerical work.
Do you like ice cream?
Help us give out samples and coupons for Turkey Hill All Natural Recipe Ice Cream at your local grocery store or at the Barnstormers baseball game during Ag Night in June.
Do you enjoy gardening?
The Trust office in Strasburg is in need of year-round gardening help. No skills needed, just a desire to keep things neat and tidy! Plant flowers, pull weeds, trim bushes, spread mulch and help keep our yard beautiful. Make your own hours! A great opportunity for kids and retired folks.
Do you enjoy photography?
The Trust needs help in gathering photographs of its preserved farms. Seasonal farm photos are always needed for Trust publications. Enjoy the local scenery and capture it on film at your leisure!
Photos are also needed of Trust events like Pedal to Preserve and the Annual Dinner.
There are many ways to become part of the Trust Team and we always have fun! Helping to save Lancaster County’s landscapes is a rewarding experience, and there are lots of ways, great and small, to contribute to the effort. No job is too difficult or takes too much time, so YOU CAN DO IT!
